Who are you?
Pick Your Dish is a homemade dinner delivery service in Portland, Oregon. Our weekly menus are carefully planned and provide a nice variety of choices (including Gluten Free and Vegetarian options) for you and your family. We do the cooking and cleaning, you enjoy a delicious meal with your family, it is that simple! Our mission is to help you enjoy a stress-free evening, sharing a freshly-prepared meal with the people that matter most to you.

How does it work?
We deliver our meals to predetermined locations in Beaverton and SW Portland. Each meal is fully cooked, then cold-packed in an insulated tote bag and will be delivered to your selected pick-up point with clear instructions on how to serve. Simply order your preferred meals by midnight on Thursday for delivery the following week. A sustainable delivery option is available, which means that we package your meals in reusable glass dishware; they are safe for heating and washing and when you pick up your next week’s meals, you return the glass dishware for us to use again.

Why do I have to order so far ahead of time?
We source our ingredients locally from farms and purveyors in the area whenever possible. Due to their smaller size, these farms and purveyors need time to prepare and fulfill our orders, requiring us to place our order days in advance to be sure that all the ingredients are available.

What do I do with the cooler bags/ice packs (and, if I opt for Sustainable Delivery, glass containers) my meals are delivered in?
Our delivery team will pick them up when they bring your next order. You can leave your bags/ice packs/containers with your receptionist, a designated proxy, or hand it to our delivery person directly. We do charge a $25 deposit for Sustainable Delivery, in the event that containers are damaged and/or not returned.

How do I care for the glass containers?
We have selected high quality and BPA-free Anchor Hocking® TrueSeal™ glass containers. They are dishwasher, microwave, oven and freezer safe. We ask that you please wash and dry the containers and lids before returning them to us. Should a dish break, please let us know at your next scheduled delivery. We do understand that these things happen, hence the $25 (refundable) deposit for the Sustainable Delivery option. What if I’ve opted for disposable containers?
Please take care – these don’t belong in the oven! Some may be microwavable, but it is always best to use caution and transfer the contents to a known microwave- or oven-safe container. As we do not need those back; please re-use and/or recycle them appropriately!

Is your food cooked or raw?
Both! Lots of the ingredients that we use in our menus are fresh and in their natural state (raw), but in general, each meal will be fully cooked, requiring you just to rewarm for serving.

Are your meals gluten-free?
Yes – sometimes! Please see the detailed ingredient list for each menu item; meals are gluten-free when noted, sometimes naturally, other times based on our substitutions.

When is my food delivered? Can I pick it up?
Our delivery days, times and locations have been carefully selected to accommodate your needs. We have made a conscious effort to consolidate our deliveries to selected points around Portland in order to reduce our carbon footprint as much as possible. Cooking up freshly prepared delicious meals is our passion, we want to spend as much time doing that as possible! Please visit our website for the most current delivery locations with days and times listed. We also offer a kitchen pick-up! If you are out and about and interested to see where your food is prepared, you may select pick-up at our commercial kitchen in Tigard. If the locations listed do not work for you, please let us know and we will do our best to work with you…you already have enough on your plate, let us help!

Do you use a commercial kitchen to prepare the foods?
Yes! We share space in a certified commercial kitchen in the Durham area of Tigard. Please feel free to let us know if you are interested in a visit. As well, you can ask us about the offerings from our fellow foodies – at this time, they range from soups to jellies, pastries, kombucha and cheesecakes!

Can I have the recipes for the meals I have tried?
Maybe! Please e-mail us at info@pickyourdishpdx,com if you have specific questions. Our process is more art than science, which means that we tend to start with a recipe and make modifications based on what is seasonally relevant and/or our own desire to experiment and improve our offerings.

What if I don’t like my meal?
DRAG! We do our best to vet out the recipes through a number of different tasters, but it’s possible that what you got wasn’t what you imagined it would be. We get it – and we sincerely value your feedback! Please let us know and we will do what we can to make it right.

Uh oh, what if I have to reschedule my pick-up?
Because we like to work with smaller suppliers and local farms, we have to place our orders for the ingredients for your meal days in advance. For this reason, we do not allow you to reschedule once you have already completed your order. We do, however, allow you to designate someone else to pick up your order, so if you want to give your friend the gift of great food while you’re away, we would love to meet them (they probably already have enough on their plate, too…let us help!).

Care & Use Instructions for Anchor Hocking® TrueSeal™
OVEN AND MICROWAVE SAFE. Use your Anchor Hocking glass in gas and electric ovens up to 425ºF or microwave ovens without browning element. Not for stovetop, broiler or toaster oven use. Do not use an alcohol or canned heat burner as a direct heat source. USE FOR STORING FOOD. Use your Anchor Hocking glass for storing food in refrigerator or freezer, but do not take directly from freezer to oven. Let food thaw before cooking or reheating in oven. CLEAN WITH PLASTIC OR NYLON NON-SCRATCH PADS OR CLEANSERS. Wash your Anchor Hocking in detergent and water. For stubborn, baked on food, let the glass soak and then use non-scratch cleansers and scrub pads intended for glass ovenware. Dishwasher safe. AVOID SEVERE TEMPERATURE CHANGES. Do not add liquid to a hot dish. Handle hot dishes with a dry cloth or potholder. Never place hot glass on wet or cold surfaces. AVOID IMPACT WITH HARD OBJECTS. Sharp knives or utensils may scratch and weaken glass. Do not use if chipped, cracked or noticeably scratched. PLASTIC COVERS: MICROWAVE USE – plastic covers are microwave safe for reheating purposes. CAUTION: When microwaving, to prevent steam build-up, a gap is required between the cover and glass. Sealing the cover may create excessive pressure causing the cover to melt, warp or cause personal injury. CAUTION: After removing item from microwave always open cover away from your body to avoid burns. Covers not intended for conventional oven, stovetop, broiler or toaster oven use. USE FOR STORING FOOD. Freezer, refrigerator and top rack dishwasher safe. For added freshness and to prevent leakage, press center of cover to remove excess air when sealing. Do not overfill or cover will not seal properly.
